Burgundy

Burgundy is bordered to the south and the east by the mountain ranges of the Alps and the Jura. To the north and the west it is neighboured by the flat plains of Champagne and the hills of the Massif Central. Set in the very heart of France the region is passionate about two of the country’s favourite pastimes, eating and drinking wine. The vineyards of Cote d’Or, the Cote de Beaune and Chablis produce some of the most well respected wines in the world.

Other wonders to be admired in the region of Burgundy are the magnificent Medieval and Renaissance architecture that can be found in the cities of Dijon and Beaune. Impressive abbeys are the main features of the towns of Auxerre, Vezelaym,  Fontenay and Pontigny.

In the central area of burgundy is the Parc Naturel Regional du Morvan which incorporates dense woodland, lakes and rolling farmland. There are numerous activities for visitors of the park to participate in such as walking, mountain biking, horse riding and rock climbing. The rivers Cousin, Chalaux, Cure and Yonne provide ample opportunities for rafting, canoeing, kayaking and fishing.
