Cote d’Azur
Probably the most infamous stretch of coastline in the South of France the Cote d’Azur enjoys a sparkling reputation. It is an enormously popular location for the rich and famous as the region incorporates beaches, secluded coves and an enviable climate that ensures visitors return year after year.
The original charm of the area is maintained in the less glitzy resort of Sainte-Maxime. On the other hand for those wishing to rub shoulders with the wealthy and glamorous a visit to Cannes, Nice or Antibes is a must. Panoramic winding roads twist and turn around the coastline linking the fashionable resorts with the bustling harbours.
Boat excursions are widely available in the Cote d’Azur resorts along with a huge selection of watersports. Alternatively a leisurely stroll along one of the broad promenades sampling the beachside cafes can be relaxing. Observe the many activities taking place on the beach or simply marvel at the magnificence of the Mediterranean.
In the resorts of Cannes and Nice the passtime of ‘people watching’ reaches new heights as the elegant and opulent pass by.
Whilst in the area a trip to Monaco is recommended as it is unique in its size. The sovereign state of Monaco covers less than two square kilometres and has been ruled by the Grimaldi family since the 13th century.
