Nice

Nice

Nice is the largest resort on the Mediterranean coast and has become the capital of the Cote d’Azur as today it is a centre for business conferences and package holidays. It enjoys a temperate winter climate and is situated in an area of green sub-tropical vegetation. The Promenade des Anglais stretches along the seafront offering spectacular scenes of changing colours of deep blue, marbling the surface of the sea. Nice has an old city of narrow interconnecting streets, which provides an energetic nightlife as the sun goes down in this fashionable niche that has a distinct Italianate feel. As Nice was Italian until 1860 the influence of Italy can also been observed in the pastel facades and balconies of the Old Town.

Other attractions to explore are the old harbour, hilltop gardens and a daily flower market in the Cours Saleya, which is not to be missed, as it is a veritable kaleidoscope of colours. Nice is also extremely popular with families and young travellers as it has accommodation options for all budgets and in terms of activities and entertainment there is an abundance for everyone.

The beaches of Nice are blanketed with smooth, round pebbles and there is an array of water sports to be experienced such as catamarans, paddleboats, sailboards and jet skis. For the more adventurous feel the adrenalin rush of parascending, water-skiing or paragliding. Walking and mountain biking are also popular around the region.
